How to Bid at Online RV Auctions and What to Bid On

If you are going to be successful when bidding in online auctions, you have to know a lot of things. First of all, you have to know what the market value is for what you are bidding on. If you understand the market value, you’ll know whether or not what you are buying is decently priced, and how much money you can save by buying it from used RV auctions. Never bid more for an item at an auction than you would if you were buying it from a private party seller.

In addition, when you’re buying from online auctions, you have to remember that you never want to travel more than 200 miles. Travelling more than 200 miles is a waste of time and effort. In addition, you may travel all that way and then not even want to buy the RV. Personally, I think it is worth it to limit your travel radius to 100 miles. Make sure you don’t buy anything straight out of the auction without seeing it firsthand. You may find out too late that a lot of items that are sold at auctions look better on the computer screen than they do in person.

The third thing you want to do when you bid at an auction is inspect the item that you are buying. Now most of the time, you’re going to want to deduct the cost of repairs from the cost that you would otherwise be willing to pay for the RV when it was in good condition.  Write down your bid amount and try not to overbid. When you’re picking up the auction, don’t enter the bidding right away. Wait until there are only one or two other bidders left. This way you will often be able to get an RV for the lowest price.

Also at RV auctions, you want to avoid bidding on RVs that have strong smells that are difficult to get rid of. For instance, cigarette smoke can be very difficult. If you buy something that has a strong pet or cigarette odor, you may have a lot harder time trying selling it later on.
